Hidden treasures o' the Internet Past: with Michaud Savage at the Royal Room in 2016

Played some super satisfying sounds with my good buddy, guitarist Michaud Savage at the Father Daughter series: improvised music and video at the Royal Room

Hot Shop

Picture

This October the wonderful musicians of my orchestra, the Northwest Sinfonietta, recorded a piece I composed for last April's "Art for Art's Sake" program, under the direction of David Lockington. My piece, Hot Shop, (linked to Soundcloud) was inspired by the concert collaboration with the Tacoma Museum of Glass and reminiscences of my sons' time learning how to blow glass in a very hot workshop.

Atmokinesis

Picture
In June 2017 I developed this homage to the elements of earth, water, fire, air and aether with Kaley Eaton, composer/vocalist/improviser/programmer. Using SuperCollider tech, Kaley programmed responses from the viola signal plus processed samples to create this 28 minute journey. Leanna Keith, flutist/improviser and all-around genius expands the work with her dazzling imagination. Atmokinesis is the ability to psychically control the weather. Photo credit: Daniel Husser

Beth Fleenor - opening audio from The Ballad of Ishtar

An excerpt from my 2015 opera The Ballad of Ishtar: opening featuring the utterly incomparable Beth Fleenor as the very pissed off goddess Ishtar.

Here's the first track of my good friend Wayne Horvitz's magnificent album 55: Music and Dance in Concrete. Trio Pardalote recorded this music in a cold, dark bunker at Fort Worden a few years back. Good memories.

Letters From Iraq with Rahim AlHaj

KEXP made this beautiful video of Rahim Alhaj's Letter 6 - Unspoken Word with Victoria Parker, Rachael Pearson, Rajan Krishnaswami and Steve Schermer and Issa Malluf. Incredible musical experience.

New Album! Collaboration with Steve Layton - Meeting Point

During the month of April 2015 I made a series of improvisations on the viola and piano and sent the files to my composer friend Steve Layton, also from Seattle, who mashed and combined and processed them in various and sundry ways. The result is our new album Meeting Point, available as a free digital download on Bandcamp on Steve's page. Enjoy!!
